Learning to Learn
“Learning
to Learn”
Hello everyone, have you ever thought about why we
need to learn? Some of us might be thought that we need to learn because that
is our needs to complete our future life. Here I’m going to explain a little
bit about “An innovative way of learning for long lasting memory and Gaining
expertise”.
Learning to learn is the ability to pursue and persist
in learning, to organize one’s own learning, including through effective management
of time and information both individually and in group.
In fact, that we do/did study to:
- 1. Earn
certificate.
- 2. Get
a job
- 3. Please
people around us
- 4. Gain
information for future
- 5. Guardian
ask to do so
- 6. Gain
knowledge and wisdom
So, the biggest question is that why should we study? Yeah
and the answer is learnt. Also, we need to learn to make learning fun, to gain
knowledge and expertise, to have long lasting memory.
Common learning practices:
- 1. Cramming
- 2. Taking
enormous notes
- 3. Repetitive
reading
- 4. Repetitive
writing
- 5. Highlighting
Effective learning practices introduced by John Dunlosky
and Robert A. Bjork.
Interleaving or spacing & Distributed practice:
- 1. Read
different subjects on different time intervals
- 2. Try
to avoid everything of a single subject on a whole
- 3. First
one subject then read another, switch to another or the previous subject.
Desirable difficulties & Retrieval practice:
- 1. Desirable
difficulties mean the difficulty which we create to test our learning
- 2. Switching
between subjects instead of reading the same subject
- 3. Try
to explain what you have learned to someone verbally
- 4. Try
to make sticky notes and arrange it with the theme
- 5. Try
to attempt quiz related to what you have learned
Tips practical experiment:
1. Be
mentally attentive
2. Take
learning as a positive & fun instead of a tedious job
3. Try
your own creativity to remove boredom
4. The
most important tip is about reveal
5. Be
curious
A child can learn more easily & effectively than an
adult. A young baby doesn’t need to do cramming for anything because he/she is
curious enough to learn more. As we grow, we start ignoring our curiosity which
ultimately dies, so be curious.
